It’s not required that you stay productive during all hours of the day, but your morning commute is a great time to educate yourself on what’s going on in the world and in your business. If your commute time is longer than 20 minutes each morning and afternoon, you’ll definitely want to check out these productive activities you can easily engage in when you’re going to and from work.
Prep for the day.
Your commute is a good time to get reacquainted with your calendar for the day (you should first get acquainted with your calendar the night before so that you’re not commuting when you’re supposed to be at a meeting…). If you’re on your way to a meeting with a client or a boss, your commute is a great time to review the agenda once more. Without taking your eyes off the road, go over your schedule for the day in your mind, mentally preparing for any meetings, presentations or daily duties that need to be accomplished that day.
Play current events catch-up.
It’s a good rule of thumb to start your day by watching, reading or listening to the news. Catch up on what’s going on in the world when you’re on your way to work.  With technology taking over the world, we’ve got all sorts of ways to get our daily fix: read newspapers and magazines via smartphones and tablets, listen to current-events podcasts, or stream radio news shows live.
Gain industry knowledge.
Utilize your time in the morning to learn about what it is that you do. Educate yourself on industry standards, what’s changing in your world, and how it can apply to your business. Again, there are all sorts of ways to get this information — do a quick search in iTunes for the best podcasts that pertain to your industry, or do some research online.
